Job Summary: The Assistive Technology Specialist will leverage their expertise in speech therapy to assess, recommend, and implement assistive technology solutions that support communication and daily living activities for individuals with disabilities. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the effective integration of technology into therapeutic practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the assistive technology needs of students with communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized assistive technology plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Provide training and support to staff, families, and caregivers on the use of assistive technology devices and software.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, educators, and other professionals to integrate assistive technology into educational programs.
  • Stay current with advancements in assistive technology and speech therapy practices.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, plans, and interventions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of assistive technology services.

This is a competitive position. Must meet the requirements of the Ontario County Civil
Service. 

This is a NYS HELPS approved title for WFL BOCES through June 2026 through NYS Civil Service. Similar to non-competitive positions, this temporary approval waives the examination requirement for this title for all hires made during this temporary period. Interested candidates who are approved by Ontario County Civil Service for the title based off of the required qualifications and experience outlined in the job description will be eligible for a probationary appointment if selected.

What You’ll Do:

We’re looking for a dynamic leader to coordinate and grow our Early College High School (ECHS) programs across the region. This role bridges high school, college, and industry, helping students, especially those historically underrepresented in higher education, navigate meaningful pathways toward college credit, career credentials, and future success. 

  • Lead & Collaborate: Design, implement, and evaluate Early College programs in partnership with school districts, colleges, and workforce organizations.
  • Support Students: Oversee advising, course planning, academic and emotional support, and career exploration for Early College students.
  • Build Pathways: Align high school, college, and industry opportunities to support dual credit, credentials, and early exposure to real-world careers.
  • Promote Equity: Champion inclusive access to early college opportunities and track student outcomes to drive improvements.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Maintain strong partnerships with NYSED, districts, families, higher ed institutions, and employers.
  • Develop & Train: Provide professional learning and resources to support educators and schools in implementing best practices.
  • Manage Programs: Oversee budgets, grants, compliance, and communication strategies to keep programs running smoothly.
