Position Summary
The EMS Lab Instructor (Hourly) assists with the delivery, supervision, and evaluation of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) psychomotor skills instruction within a Career & Technical Education (CTE) high school program. Instruction is aligned with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Bureau of EMS standards and supports students preparing for EMT certification. Work is performed under instructional supervision; this position does not include supervisory responsibility.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with the delivery of EMT psychomotor skills instruction during laboratory sessions in accordance with NYSDOH guidelines, protocols, and approved curricula
· Observe, evaluate, and document student performance using approved skills checkoff sheets and assessment tools
· Assist with psychomotor testing, skill verification, and competency evaluation as required
· Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students regarding performance and professional expectations
· Assist with providing remedial or individualized instruction to support student skill mastery
· Support lab operations including setup, breakdown, equipment sanitation, and inventory
· Ensure compliance with lab safety standards, infection control practices, and appropriate equipment use
· Assist with monitoring student attendance, participation, and progress as directed
· Communicate with the EMS Program Instructor regarding student progress and instructional needs
· Maintain current knowledge of EMS practices, protocols, and educational requirements
· Perform related duties as assigned to support the EMS program
