Orientation and Mobility Specialist

School Social Workers 2022-2023 School Year

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. The successful candidate is expected to: • Provide specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities. • Provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. • Record and report student progress. • Collaborate with colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs. • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents. • Ability to work with a diverse population of students.

Teaching Assistants 2022-2023 School Year Special Education Programs

Teaching assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and completed related work as required. The duties of this position may require specific skills and abilities based on the students’ needs and/or program. Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts.

 

Please note that applicants will be reviewed and will be filled on a continuing basis based on program needs.

Tutors 2022-2023 School Year

Tutors provide tutoring services to students who are capable of  benefiting from instruction but are unable to attend school and/or unable to learn in the traditional classroom environment. 

The Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES provides Tutors to a wide geographical area.  Tutor candidates who are screened, interviewed, and referenced may be presented to the Board of Education for approval.  Tutor candidates will be required to complete on-boarding paperwork, trainings, and provide further information related to areas of expertise and interest. 

 

This position is posted for the entire school year and applicants will only be reviewed as requests for services come in for this position throughout the year.  Applicants will only be contacted when a position becomes available.
