Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. The duties of this position may require specific skills and abilities based on the students’ needs and/or program, including but not limited to:

• Ability to work with a diverse population of students.
• Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
• Implement specialized instruction to students.
• Collaborate with colleagues and assist teacher to meet student learning needs.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders.
• Assist with maintaining record keeping.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments

Students enter the PTECH High School program as 9th graders and work simultaneously toward earning an Advanced Regents Diploma and an A.A.S. degree from Finger Lakes Community College in Information Technology, Instrumentation and Control Technologies or Mechanical Technology, at no cost to the student's family. The 4–6-year sequence emphasizes individualized pathways to completion, mentorships, work-based experiences, in-depth project-based learning, and real-world experiences.
Instructors are expected to: provide specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities; provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning; record and report student progress; collaborate with colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs; communicate regularly and effectively with parents; ability to work with a diverse population of students.
