Teaching Assistant, RJEC, Shortsville, NY

Please note that applicants will be reviewed and will be filled on a continuing basis based on program needs.

Salary Range: $22,321 - $25,327 (subject to negotiations), based on experience and demonstrated abilities. Benefits include paid holidays & leave time, NYS retirement, and health & dental insurance.

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. The duties of this position may require specific skills and abilities based on the students’ needs and/or program, including but not limited to:

• Ability to work with a diverse population of students.

• Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.

• Implement specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities. • Collaborate with colleagues and assist teacher to meet student learning needs.

• Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders.

• Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.), as applicable.

• Assist with maintaining record keeping.

• Attend staff meetings and trainings.

• Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

Special Education Teacher, Temporary Position (Covering for Leave of Absence) RJEC, Shortsville, NY
