What you'll do:

• Have the ability to work with a diverse population of students.
• Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
• Implement specialized instruction for students with emotional and learning disabilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues and assist teachers to meet student learning needs.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders.
• Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.), as applicable.
• Assist with maintaining record keeping.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

This position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. Tutors 2025-2026 School Year

Tutor pay rate for certified tutors is $36.50 per 1-hour session for any single (1) student, with an hourly rate adjustment for sessions involving multiple students (not an increase to the base rate), inclusive of material prep time and pick-up. 

Tutors provide tutoring services to students who are capable of benefiting from instruction but are unable to attend school and/or unable to learn in the traditional classroom environment. 

The Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES provides Tutors to a wide geographical area.  Tutor candidates who are screened, interviewed, and referenced may be presented to the Board of Education for approval.  Tutor candidates will be required to complete onboarding paperwork, trainings, and provide further information related to areas of expertise and interest. 

This position is posted for the entire school year and applicants will only be reviewed as requests for services come throughout the year.  Applicants will only be contacted when a position becomes available.

Rates of pay are in accordance with W-FL BOCES Administrative Regulations.
