Job Description

Position: 1.00 FTE Assistant Principal

Location: Wayne Education Center (WEC), Williamson, NY 14589
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary Range: $77,625 - $87,625, based on experience and demonstrated abilities.

Responsibilities may include providing leadership and oversight for all aspects of the special education school serving students with disabilities, including the implementation of state, federal, and program initiatives. The role also involves serving as a liaison with parents, component districts, and service providers; leading curriculum development and professional learning; evaluating faculty and staff; and ensuring effective day-to-day supervision of school operations.

Job Qualifications
  • Required: 
    • Valid teaching certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
    • Valid NYSED administrative certification as school building leader (SBL)
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a school environment as a certified teacher
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in a leadership role, including but not limited to supervisory and observation/evaluative duties, and organizing and executing short and long-term projects in building/state initiatives
    • Demonstrated expertise in pedagogy, instructional strategies and leadership, knowledge of child development
    • Experience with trauma informed practices
    • Demonstrated knowledge of interdepartmental collaboration and working knowledge of outside agencies and connections
    • Established philosophy of working with parents as partners
    • Candidates should possess a broad skill set of effective teaching and learning to engage learners of all levels, including but not limited to:
      • Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments
      • Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments
