Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing high quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow; working collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills; supporting students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified; willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners; and differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success. This is a tenure track position upon proof of proper certification granted by NYSED.
Start Date: September 1, 2026 for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
CTE Teachers must possess, or be qualified to obtain, appropriate New York State Education Department Certification, and maintain such throughout employment.
If not currently certified, successful candidate will be provided assistance in next steps, with include selecting a personalize pathway to obtain certification. NYSED certification includes, at a minimum, approved fingerprints, completion of DASA Training and SAVE Workshop, Child Abuse Identification Workshop, and submission of education and work experience to obtain Transitional certification.
For this position, candidates must hold Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) or pursue NYS Teaching Certification in Trade Subjects: Teacher Education and Training. This title requires the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive and appropriate work experience teaching in an acceptable PreK-12 educational setting in the subject area of their certification. A valid or expired NYS or out-of-state classroom teaching certificate is required in a certificate title other than a career and technical certificate title. Educational leadership or pupil personnel services certificates are not acceptable. Experience may include, but is not limited to, writing and implementing lesson plans and units of study that address the needs of all students; assessing students and analyzing their responses to inform evidence-based decision-making in the classroom; and engaging in the daily responsibilities of a teacher, including collaborating with colleagues.
Successful candidates will be required to continue to work through the teacher certification process until achieving Professional Level certification.
