Students enter the P-TECH High School program as 9th graders and work simultaneously toward earning an Advanced Regents Diploma and an A.A.S. degree from Finger Lakes Community College in Information Technology, Instrumentation and Control Technologies or Mechanical Technology, at no cost to the student's family. The 4-6 year sequence emphasizes individualized pathways to completion, mentorships, work-based experiences, in-depth project-based learning and real world experiences.
Only candidates who hold NYS Teacher Assistant certification or candidates who have passed the NYS Assessment of Teaching Assistant Test (NYSATAS). Candidates willing to pursue Teaching Assistant certification may be considered. An essential element of the position, includes that the candidate must be able to successfully complete of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Training.
Teaching assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. The successful candidate will also support the school principal in routine school activities and duties.
