What You'll Do:

• Provide high-quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, a high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills
• Support students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified
• Willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners; and differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success
• Must hold a commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments

Job Qualifications

Required:

• CTE Teachers must possess, or be qualified to obtain, appropriate New York State Education Department Certification, and maintain such throughout employment. 
• If not currently certified, the successful candidate will be provided assistance in the next steps, which include selecting a personalized pathway to obtain certification. NYSED certification includes, at a minimum, approved fingerprints, completion of DASA Training and SAVE Workshop, Child Abuse Identification Workshop, and submission of education and work experience to obtain Transitional certification. More information from NYSED can be reviewed here:  https://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/search-cert-reqs 
• For this position, candidates must pursue NYS Teaching Certification in Trade Subjects – Carpentry 7-12.  This certification requires the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive, and appropriate work experience in the building of wooden commercial structures or residences.  Experience may include, but is not limited to, using trade related blueprints and plans to build or install structures and fixtures such as windows and molding; measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, or other materials; constructing frameworks such as walls and doorframes; replacing damaged woodwork structures; and instructing other construction helpers and laborers. For example, positions held may be framing, finishing, lead, and/or master carpenter.
• Successful candidates will be required to continue to work through the teacher certification process until achieving Professional Level certification.
