Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. The duties of this position may require specific skills and abilities based on the students’ needs and/or program, including but not limited to:

•Have ability to work with a diverse population of students.
•Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
•Implement specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities.
•Collaborate with colleagues and assist teacher to meet student learning needs.
•Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders.
•Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.), as applicable.
•Assist with maintaining record keeping.
•Attend staff meetings and trainings.
•Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.
